Call to Artists for The Life You’ve Seen

Kansas City, MO, February 5th, 2022: Weinberger Fine Art announces a call for self-identifying women artists and non-binary artists currently living in the greater Kansas City metro area for a spring exhibition titled The Life You’ve Seen in honor of Women’s History Month. This group exhibition will be curated by WFA’s Owner and Chief Curator Kim Weinberger, WFA’s Gallery Director, Madeline Brice, and WFA’s Assistant Director, Ross Redmon. Works in The Life You’ve Seen may be any two-dimensional or three-dimensional medium including painting, sculpture, print, drawing, photography, film, and installation.  Artists of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Artists should consider the following when applying: 

The Life You’ve Seen will bring together self-identifying women artists and non-binary artists living and working in the greater Kansas City metro area for an exhibition on feminine identity and the varying ways in which it can be defined.  Identity is boundless and constantly in flux, ebbing and flowing as we age and transform. What does it mean to be you in your body? What does it mean to be you in your body making art?

SUBMISSION MATERIALS

Artists interested in submitting work for consideration for this exhibition should send the following to madeline@weinbergerfineart.com, with the subject line: THE LIFE YOU’VE SEEN.

  • Links to any relevant web presence (website, Instagram feed)

  • 1-5 images that are the exact pieces to be considered with title, dimensions, medium, and price including 50% gallery commission.

  • An artist headshot for promotional materials.

  • A short paragraph describing your work and how you think it relates to the exhibition theme.

  • CV (this is primarily to gain context for your work. No particular experience is needed to apply or be considered for the exhibition)

The deadline for submission of work is February 28th, 2022. Artists will be notified of inclusion in the exhibition by March 4th, 2022. Selected works must be dropped off and ready to hang no later than March 12th. Please include any special considerations for installation of your work in your submission. The exhibition will open Friday March 18th and hang through April 30th.

ELIGIBILITY

Self-identifying women artists and non-binary artists currently living in the greater Kansas City metro area working in 2D and 3D mediums including painting, sculpture, print, drawing, photography, film, and installation.  Artists of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Artists must be 21 and older and not currently enrolled in a degree-seeking academic program. 

GALLERY DETAILS

Weinberger Fine Art is located at 114 Southwest Boulevard in the Crossroads Arts District. The gallery is ~5000 square feet with high-ceilings. The space is equipped with multiple floor and ceiling outlets, and track lighting. A garage door allows for load- in of large work.
