Born in 1982, Kyle Goddard was raised in the Greater Jackson Area of Mississippi. At the age of 17, Kyle joined the Army Guard in which he served for nine years with one deployment in Afghanistan. Though the military is not traditionally thought of as an artistic environment, the overt use of repetition and organization would leave an impression. Influenced by the early Modern artists and the New York Abstract Expressionists, Kyle became interested in the science of composition. He also gains inspiration through architecture, the forms of casual elements of everyday life, and the persistent geometry of which we are surrounded by. After receiving his B.F.A. in Painting from the University of Southern Mississippi, Kyle has continued to advance his artistic theories. He received a State Fellowship in Mississippi for his paintings in 2013, was recently published in Studio Visit Magazine, and prominently works on expanding his portfolio.
