Andrea Regnier was born in Prague in the Czech Republic. Growing up with parents who are both architects, she was naturally drawn to the field, receiving a master degree in architecture in 1998. Architecture as a theme appears in all of her artwork. She also finds inspiration from her passion for travel, which has taken her throughout Europe and America - taking photographs of places and things and then transferring the images through her own vision and style.
Regnier's art has a certain degree of abstractness that allows the viewer a place for his or her own interpretation and experience. Drawn to the power of simplicity, geometry, and by mixing her techniques, she starts with drawing and ends with a monoprint. The viewer, through Regnier's use of multiple layers, can see the image as a whole or get lost in a chaotic but magical section of the piece- it is a microcosm and both parts are irreplaceable and essential.
